Too Much of a Good Thing

I love Biscoff cookies. I love collecting them from my plane travels and keeping them in a mason jar in the snack corner of my cupboard, pulling them out only to drink with a cup of decaf black tea, watching them soften in the mix of ceylon and soy milk. They're better that way.

The other week, on a tired Thursday, I went into my Delta Airlines sponsored stash, packed my thermos, and headed to the office. It was there, split between sips and Slack messages that I made my mistake.

I'm deeply aware that leaving the biscuit in the tea too long will have it dissolve into a slop at the bottom of your mug. Because of that, my first couple dips were conservative. Crunchy.

Be bold, I thought as my Biscoff sat in the tea while my mind got distracted by an article on my computer. So engrossing was the read, that I forgot about the precarious treat tilting between my fingers, hovering above my lap.

When half the cookie broke off, then, onto my sweater, the chair, the floor, there was nobody to blame but myself.

I love Biscoff cookies. I like them more when they're dipped in tea. I like them not at all when I'm blotting them out of fabric and wiping them off the floor.

May this serve as a reminder that there can be too much of a good thing. May we temper our boldness with limitations of cookie construction. May we be okay with a little crunch.

In Build Now GG, I tried playing ultra-safe and avoiding fights, but still ended up in a final duel. Strategy really matters as much as mechanics.
