Thanking the Westminster College SPARK Leadership Team 2020 – 2021

The Smile Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading Happiness through acts of kindness. Our flagship program finds its home in the SPARK Clubs. SPARK stands for “Strengthening Positivity and Reinforcing Kindness” and these groups are formed by inspiring young people who want to make their schools and communities kinder and friendlier places to be.

As an unprecedented school year begins to wind down, we want to acknowledge and thank the 2020 – 2021 school year leadership team of one of the oldest SPARK clubs, Westminster College. This is the fifth year for WC SPARK and I am so inspired by the way this group has adapted through an unpredictable year.

President: Emily Wilson

Emily Wilson is a senior mathematics major. She loves cats, loves ice cream, and loves time spent with family and friends.

Secretary: Julia Redilla

Julia is a sophomore at Westminster College, studying molecular biology and psychology. She will pursue a career in genetic counseling once she obtains her undergraduate degree and masters. Outside of SPARK, she is also one of the captains of the women's soccer team at Westminster, and is involved with several other clubs such as Tri Beta Science Honors Society, Lambda Sigma Honors Society, Psychology club, Chemistry club, and intramural volleyball. She enjoys spending time with friends and family! Julia says, “I look forward to continuing the legacy of SPARK at Westminster and spreading kindness wherever possible. This club is something that I hold close to my heart and have been a part of for a few years now, with co-creating it at Seneca Valley High School and now serving on the exec. board at Westminster College! I am very excited for what is to come!”

Treasurer: Joy Snow

Joy is a senior Nursing major at Westminster College with a minor in Childhood Development. She will graduate from UPMC Jameson School of Nursing with an RN this May. When she’s not at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephew and reading and watching true crime TV shows.

Project Manager: Riana Smith

Riana is a junior chemistry major with an astronomy minor. She writes, “Honestly I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I joined, but helping to create and organize projects which are specifically directed in spreading positivity and making people smile has been such an amazing experience!”

Social Media Chair: Jocelyn Gillette

Title: Current Social Media chair.

Jocelyn is graduating this semester and plans on continuing her education at Westminster College to obtain my MBA with an emphasis in Health Care Management. She is currently a member of the soccer team, a Resident Assistant, a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and part of the Westminster Entrepreneurship Center. In her free time she likes to hang out with her friends and take her dog on walks.

On behalf of everyone at Smile Project HQ, we send our best wishes to the entire Westminster SPARK Club and community and thank these leaders for their generosity of time, spirit, and heart. We look forward to working with some of you next year and seeing what unfolds for our graduating seniors.

Love always,

Liz
