Service Spotlight: Crochet to Cure

In today’s Service Spotlight, I am thrilled to share the story of Sydney. Sydney is the founder of a California based initiative called Crochet to Cure. It’s equally adorable and inspiring. Keep reading to learn more.

Liz: Let’s start in traditional Smile Project fashion. Give me a “Happiness is!”

Sydney: Happiness is finding joy through loving relationships and meaningful experiences. We should enjoy our own lives and make life enjoyable for others.

Liz: Tell me about Crochet to Cure.

Sydney: Crochet To Cure is a project I recently started. I crochet dolls and other items to bring comfort and delight to children in hospitals and in my community.

Liz: What is the driving force behind what you do?

Sydney: Through my passion for creativity, my goal is simple: to bring a smile to people’s faces while they may be experiencing challenges or hardship. I hope to make an impact in someone’s life and encourage others to do the same, no matter how big or small.

Liz: What does service mean to you?

Sydney: Service is putting in effort and showing care to give back to people in need without expecting anything in return. Everyone should consider helping improve their community and supporting the people within it.

Liz: What are your dreams for Crochet to Cure?

Sydney: Some of my future goals are

- Teach others how to crochet

- Provide opportunities for people to get involved or contribute

- Expand my project beyond locally

Liz: How can people get involved?

Sydney: Follow @crochettocure on Instagram to stay updated!

Liz: Do you have a favorite quote to leave us with?

Sydney: One of my favorite quotes is by Morgan Harper Nichols who says, “How liberating it is to pursue wholeness instead of perfection.”
