Madame Vice President

Growing up, I knew I could become a teacher if I wanted to. A lot of my teachers looked like me and I had family and family friends who taught.

Today, January 20, 2021, the United States of America inaugurated its first Black, first Indian, and first woman Vice President.

A whole generation of little Black and brown girls are now going to grow up with the knowledge that they could be Vice President. And, equally important, are the little boys who see that a woman belongs—as Ruth Bader Ginsburg reminds us—in all places where decisions are being made.
