Service Spotlight: TribesforGOOD

One of my favorite things about The Smile Project is being able to connect with changemakers around the world. This week’s #ServiceSpotlight is a beautiful example of that. Joseph F. Kolapudi works with TribesforGOOD, an organization based in India. Let’s meet him.

Liz: Let’s start in traditional Smile Project fashion. Give me a ‘Happiness is.’

Joseph: Happiness is connecting with individuals as part of a wider community to see change happen.

Liz: What is Tribes for Good?

Joseph: TribesforGOOD is a platform where individuals learn and take action on the “real issues" affecting the social and environmental issues affecting the community that they care about, both locally as well as globally. We do so by working alongside social enterprises, impact businesses, community leaders, and entrepreneurs to facilitate changemakers to reach their community and catalyse societal change from the ground up. We are on a mission to inspire a generation who wants to work in the social impact space.

Liz: What is the driving force behind what you do?

Joseph: Our main driver comes from working with young people who are passionate about contributing to real issues. Today, while robots and Artificial Intelligence is taking over the world, we are carving out a unique niche for social causes, fuelling multitudes of innovative social enterprises around the world.

Liz: What does service mean to you?

Joseph: Service means coming alongside others, especially socially impacting organisations and individuals to catapult their impact to the next level and highlight their service in community on a larger stage.

Liz: How can people get involved?

Joseph: We are currently running a Young Changemakers initiative that invites the youth who want to gain experience in the social impact field.

Applications are now being accepted - and the program is being offered 100% online in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

You can learn more on our Facebook page or on our program page. To apply, click here.

Liz: Anything else you’d like to add or any particular words of wisdom you’d like to leave us with?

Joseph: You can also listen to Mandeep Kaur, Founder of TribesforGOOD, and her story of how she started the cause by checking out the podcast here.

"When coming together to do anything great, it always helps when people offer themselves selflessly towards a cause."

- Mandeep Kaur, Founder, TribesforGOOD
