I’ve long been involved with a nonprofit called The Pollination Project that every day gifts a $1,000 seed grant to a group or individual who is making the world a better place.
That’s how I got connected with Peter Ekesa Oduory, Founder of Pets Right Advocacy and Campaign (PRAC) in Amagoro, Busia, Western Province, Kenya. This is his story.
Liz: Let’s start in traditional Smile Project fashion. Give me a “Happiness is.”
Peter: “Happiness is not how much we have but how much we enjoy that makes Happiness.” That’s a quote by Charles Spurgeon. There’s nothing as good as spreading the smile to everybody, everywhere.
Liz: What is your organization?
Peter: Pets Right Advocacy and Campaign Project. My project is an animal rights project. I advocate for the rights of animals, mainly focusing on pets to ensure they get proper hygiene, feed, and medication. I help community members with pets in Amagoro, Kenya by building kennels for their dogs and helping them get access to proper medication and food. The major objective is to foster good relationships with passion in order to escape diseases such as rabies and scabies.
Liz: What is the driving force behind what you do?
Peter: I am being driven by compassion towards animals.
Liz: What does service mean to you?
Peter: Service is any act of doing something voluntarily to fulfill somebody`s need.
Liz: Do you have a favorite quote or piece of advice?
Peter: Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It's about impact, influence, and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you have to inspire your teammates or clients. So boldly take a lead, the world is in dire need of you!
