Service Spotlight: Cultivate Kindness Box

I don’t remember how I originally stumbled across the Cultivate Kindness Box, but once I found it, I was hooked.

I was even more impressed when I learned that it was founded by 16-year-old Lyndsi Moore.

Nothing is more inspiration than seeing young people working to create a kinder world and that is exactly what Lyndsi has done with this project. Without further ado, allow me to introduce Lyndsi.

Liz: Let’s start in traditional Smile Project fashion. Give me a “Happiness is.”

Lyndsi: Happiness is spreading kindness every day!

Liz: Tell me about the Cultivate Kindness Box.

Lyndsi: The Cultivate Kindness Box is a monthly subscription box used to inspire Kindness. We want to start a ripple of Kindness starting in local communities and expanding worldwide. We offer two different kindness boxes. Our “Take Action” Kindness Box is great for kids/families/teachers and it features a kindness activity every month and the materials to do the kindness activity. Our Cultivate Kindness giftables box is great for women and teens and features 5-6 products that inspire kindness, joy & happiness that you can keep for yourself or share with friends.

Liz: What is the driving force behind what you do?

Lyndsi: Our community experienced a devastating loss of one of our students due to a fatal car accident. She was the 16 year old daughter of our local church’s pastor and an active member of our school clubs and programs. The day after the accident, students from every club and organization gathered at our local coffee shop where we were informed of daily journals that she had kept.

In the entry written the day of her passing, she wrote: “A community can not be labeled as inclusive or exclusive because a community by definition is a group of people who share something in common coming together.” This really made me think about the ripple of kindness that can be made through people coming together.

Liz: What does service mean to you?

Lyndsi: To me, the act of service is doing something selfless for the benefit of another with no expectation of them doing anything for you.

Liz: How can people get involved?

Lyndsi: You can find us at Cultivate Kindness Box on Facebook and Instagram and our website.

Liz: One last question. Do you have a favorite quote to leave us with?

”Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile. “

- Mother Teresa
