I was scrolling through one of my women’s entrepreneurship groups on Facebook the other day when I saw a post from Vanessa Ann Miller, CEO and Founder of Speak Positivi-Tee. She described her brand as one focused on “positive self talk and spreading kindness through the world with one positive, kind statement at a time.”
I immediately knew we had to connect. In the weeks since then, I have been inspired by Vanessa’s infectiously positive attitude and am so excited to share her story here.
Liz: Let’s start in traditional Smile Project fashion. Give me a Happiness is.
Vanessa: Happiness is possible!
Liz: What is your organization?
Vanessa: Speak Positivi-Tee is a graphic tee company that spreads positivity and happiness through affirmations printed on apparel. We believe that we can change our communities one kind word at a time. Whether it's a kind word to others or one we tell ourselves. Love and kindness starts with us.
Our motto is Positive Words. Positive Lives.
Liz: What is the driving force behind what you do?
Vanessa: My young children are why I want to make the world a kinder, more loving and positive place. When I leave this earth, I will no longer be able to protect their hearts. I want them to see from example how to be kind and compassionate to themselves and others. I believe if we all are intentional with our words, we can create positive change. When we practice mindfulness in all we do, we make our present moments more valuable.
Liz: What does service mean to you?
Vanessa: Service means showing up for others even when you don't feel up to it. Service means giving with no agenda. Service is compassion. Service is a free way to feel free spiritually. It almost automatically fills your soul with warmth and hope.
Liz: How can people get involved?
Vanessa: In 2020, we are partnering with the Smile Project to exponentially reach hearts worldwide. When you purchase apparel from Speak Positivitee, a portion of sales is donated to the Smile Project to fund projects like the SPARK program and #BirthdayGivebacks. We believe we can have a positive impact on the world with this partnership.

Liz: Anything else you'd like to add?
Vanessa: Leave a legacy for your children. Leave them a happier, more positive world. Be the first to let your guard down and lift your compassion up to have a ripple effect on this earth. The others will follow.
