Service Spotlight: NarizMojada Foundation

This week’s Service Spotlight comes to us from Cleveland, Texas where we are introduced to Alma Rodriguez and the NarizMojada Foundation, a group dedicated to helping animals that are often overlooked. Keep reading to learn more about their great work.

Liz: Let’s start in traditional Smile Project fashion. Give me a "Happiness is.”

Alma: Happiness is family, food, home. Animals deserve the same happiness.

Liz: Tell me about your organization.

Alma: We are a foundation focused on reducing the overpopulation of stray and injured animals through sterilization. Our community has been overpopulated with many stray animals that have been left to die in the streets. We believe it is important to educate pet owners on the importance of sterilization and annual preventative care for their pets. Spay/neuter efforts dramatically reduce the number of animals abandoned. Through fundraisers and with the support of the community we hope to help as many pets as possible. Money raised is used to help with the cost of pet sterilization and spread awareness of the importance of preventative care.

Liz: What is the driving force behind what you do?

Alma: Having a safe neighborhood for both humans and animals. Reduce animal suffering.

Liz: What does service mean to you?

Alma: Helping without expecting anything in return.

Liz: How can people get involved?

Picture: Alicia and her rescued cats. NarizMojada was able to help her with the sterilization of three of them. She is a perfect example of why we continue our work.

Liz: Anything else you'd like to add?

Alma: If funds and volunteers are available we do rescues. So far NarizMojada has rescued 12 puppies from the streets.

Liz: Last thing. Do you have a favorite piece of advice to share?

Alma: Love what you do.
