The Smile Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading Happiness through acts of kindness. Our flagship program finds its home in the SPARK Clubs. SPARK stands for “Strengthening Positivity and Reinforcing Kindness” and these groups are formed by inspiring young people who want to make their schools and communities kinder and friendlier places to be.
Today, I want to introduce the current leadership team of one of the oldest SPARK clubs, Slippery Rock University (SRU). This is the fourth year for SRU SPARK and I am so inspired by their kindness already!
President Leah Stock
Leah is a middle level science education major and a junior at SRU. Last year, Leah did a great job as the SPARK Fundraising Chair. Three things that make her happy are watching movies on a cold rainy day, traveling to new places, and when it’s just the right temperature to roll the windows down and blast your favorite songs in the car!
Vice President Courtney Covelli
A senior Exercise Science: Pre-OT Major, Courtney is serving as the Vice President for SPARK this year after having been Treasurer for last year. Three things that make her happy are her friends and family, chocolate, and a fresh manicure.
Fundraising Chair Taylor Mazzaferro
Taylor is this year’s Fundraising Chair and a sophomore Early Childhood/Special Education Major. Her friends, family, and animals make her happy.
Public Relations Chair Ashley Covelli
For the second year in a row, junior Elementary & Special Education major Ashley Covelli is serving as the Public Relations Chair. The people in her life, food, and music make her happy.
Secretary & Treasurer Rachel Stock
Rachel is a senior School Wellness Education major and is both the Secretary and Treasurer of SPARK this year. Three things that make her happy are her friends, her family, and Christmas.
We are so grateful to have such an awesome team spreading kindness at Slippery Rock University this year. Be sure to follow them on Instagram and Twitter to see what amazing things they come up with!
