Service Spotlight: Diversifyd Music Ministry

One of my favorite things about The Smile Project is the opportunity to meet and connect with other social entrepreneurs. Through a nonprofit Facebook group, I connected to Chad and Lieni Makihele from Escondido, California. They are the minds behind Diversifyd Music Ministry.

Without further ado, allow me to introduce their project!

Liz: Let's start in traditional Smile Project fashion. Give me a "Happiness is.”

Lieni: Happiness is in giving and serving others.

Liz: What is your organization?

Lieni: Our organization is "Diversifyd Music Ministry," using our gift in music to share the gospel and love! Our currents projects are "Hope and Worth" showers, providing FREE showers to our homeless Veterans and our homeless community in North County San Diego California

Liz: What is the driving force behind what you do?

Lieni: My husband almost lost his life in 2012 by being electrocuted from a power line where he was working as a roofer on our Military base. Only God brought him back to me and our four boys. Since then we turned our direction to helping and healing others through our gift in music.

Liz: What does service mean to you?

Lieni: Giving with cheerful heart and serving the needs of others.

Liz: How can people get involved?

Lieni: You can share and download our music, volunteer at our shower sites, and donate to our current projects. You can also follow us on our website or Facebook.

Liz: Can you tell me more about the I Am One Project:

Lieni: We aim to empower, improve and give attention to not merely a group but to the individual through our “I AM ONE“ Project with “Hope & Worth” mobile showers for our homeless and our youth program “N67 football” You can follow I Am One - Change Starts With One at the website here or on Facebook or Instagram.

Liz: Do you have a favorite piece of advice?

Lieni: Your spiritual gifts are for others.
