Always Have Something Exciting to Say

I call my grandparents at least once a week. Every time we chat, we compare the weather in Pittsburgh versus New York City, talk about what we’re going to have for dinner, and fill each other in on everything that has happened since the last time we talked.

I was talking to my grandmother one day, telling her all sorts of wonderful and new things that had happened since we last talked six days prior. As I finished my whirlwind explanation of events and stopped to take a breath, she said: “Well, Elizabeth, you always do have something exciting to report, don’t you?”

I liked that idea a lot. It’s easy to let hours slip into afternoons into days and weeks and months. Even sitting at my desk in mid-January, I already know that come December I’ll be shocked at another years passing.

What if you always had something exciting to report? What if you lived every week looking for new opportunities or dreams you hadn’t realized? What if you were always making progress toward a goal, or trying a new food, or finishing a good book?

Find someone in your life who holds you to that – who makes you want to achieve great things while also living the adventure that every moment can hold. And promise me, you’ll always have something exciting to say.

Love always,

Liz
