Joy Week 2016 - The Basics

Joy Week is a week to celebrate Happiness, Kindness, and The Smile Project.

On November 9th 2011, I posted my first "Happiness is" status and thus The Smile Project was born. Help me celebrate 5 years of daily joy and help me kick off my sixth year by taking part in these fun challenges - each day representing a different pillar of The Smile Project.

Share your photos on social media, use the hashtag #JoyWeek2016, and you'll be entered for a chance to win some free Smile Swag.

Monday: Create Adventure

Share a photo of you wearing a smile project shirt, holding the official "smile" sign, or holding your own handmade smile. Tell the world why Happiness matters. Talk about the importance of something like The Smile Project. Tell us how your adventures lead you to joy.

Make sure to use the hashtags #JoyWeek2016 and #SpreadTheSmile

Tuesday: Be Kind

Happy Election Day! Your call to action here is to share a photo of a Random Act of Kindness. This can be interpreted however you choose, but share some joy today. Regardless of your political party, everyone appreciates kindness.

Wednesday: Share Joy

It's been five full years since I posted my first "Happiness is" on a random November day, proving that you don't need a new year to make a major change. No pictures necessary today. All I'm asking is for one single post just like this:

"Day 1: Happiness is.. ________"

That's all. Just one.

Thursday: Tell Stories

Sit with a loved one, write them a letter, or even post on Facebook that story you've been holding inside you. I will also be collecting "questions" all week in a kind of "Ask Me Anything" setting to be answered and compiled into a blog post.

Friday: Give Back

Happy Veteran's Day! Your challenge is to call, write, and thank a Veteran. Could be a relative, a friend, or a total stranger. Proceeds from all Smile Project shirts will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Make sure to follow #JoyWeek2016 and click here to join the movement.

Love always,

Liz
