This is the (hopefully) first installment of a series of blog posts about things that look like love. If there’s one thing I’ve learned through 12+ years of recording daily joys, it’s that what you see is what you look for. But I’m not looking for love in the obvious places. I’m looking for simple reminders of love in all its forms. I hope you enjoy this new series. And I hope you feel inspired to look for love too (and to share it with us if you’d like!)
A Home Hosting Experience
Love looks like hosting your brother and sister-in-law in one of your first adult apartments and putting mismatched (but clean) bath towels and two NYC Metrocards on the twin bed. Not pictured: an un-inflated air mattress.
Crunchy Peanut Butter Bagel in Sausalito, CA
Love looks like grocery shopping before a road trip and only buying one jar of peanut butter to save space in the cooler. It looks like one person compromising to buy crunchy, even when they prefer smooth.
Love looks like pots and pans stacked on a formerly cracked, newly glued dresser drawer.
Vegan Pina Colada Cupcake with Rum Buttercream and Toasted Coconut
Love looks like trusting your audience enough to try a new cake recipe with them… and doubting yourself enough to make a small batch of cupcakes on the side as testers.
