One of my favorite things about The Smile Project is the opportunity to connect with other people in the nonprofit and social good space. As a grantee of The Pollination Project, I can connect with others who care about making their world better.
That’s how I met Roseby Chiweza, the Executive Director of Youth for Positive Change (YOPOC) in Malawi. I asked her to share with me a little bit of her story.
Liz: Let’s start in traditional Smile Project fashion. Give me a ‘Happiness is.’
Roseby: Happiness is having joy in mind.
Liz: What is your project/organization?
Roseby: Provision of economic empowerment to teen mothers and sex workers living with HIV/AIDS.
Liz: What is the driving force behind what you do?
Roseby: Training teen mothers and sex workers in entrepreneurship skills and providing them with small loans to start small scale business.
Liz: What does service mean to you?
Roseby: Helping others to do on what they cannot do on their own
Liz: Anything else you'd like to add?
Roseby: Anyone interested to share with us grant opportunities is welcome to do so because this will be helpful to fundraise our project activities in our area.
