Walk Taller

Earlier this week, I complimented my coworkers dress. She hesitated at acceptance. I asked if it was a new dress or if she was uncertain. She said she had bought it online and wasn't sure once she got it, how it fit and how she felt about it.

Then she said: “But thank you. I feel much better about wearing it now. I'll walk taller now."

Wow.

It was simple. It was silly. It was so small on the grand scheme of things. After all, we were just passing by in the hallway. But she felt more confident as a result of those 30 seconds.

I thought about the power of a compliment… and as I walked back to my desk, I felt a little taller too.
